How to Access Course Readings

To find required book and article readings that are on your syllabus, use the methods below.

To find books
  • If your book has been placed on Course Reserve, you can search our Course Reserve listings here: Course Reserves Search. You can search by instructor name, course name or course number. To locate your course name and course number, search the Course Schedule.
  • If your book is not on reserves, you can search our general collection: Library Catalog
To find book chapters
  • To read a book chapter online, you will need to access it through an e-book.
  • Search for the title in our general collection: Library Catalog
  • Click the “Access E-Book” link
  • Open the e-book and locate the chapter you are interested in reading
To find articles 

Interlibrary Loan

Use Interlibrary 

If the book or article you need is not owned by the Simmons University Library, we can obtain it from another library on your behalf. Follow the instructions below to submit an interlibrary loan request.

  • Navigate to the Interlibrary Loan Services webpage.
  • Use your Simmons login credentials (not your 2U or other login).
  • Enter the book or article information into the request form.
  • Article requests will be delivered to your email address.
  • Book requests will be mailed to your home address.
  • You will receive email notifications with updates on your request status.

How to return books to the library

Send your Interlibrary Loan material via United States Postal Service, "media mail" rate to the following address:

Course Reserves

What Are Course Reserves

The Library Course Reserves collection is intended to support your course readings. If your instructor places an assigned book on Reserve, we separate it from the general collection for easy access. Use the video below to see how to search for a book on Reserve.
