Simmons E-Books: Downloading E-Books

How to find and use electronic books from the library's catalog and beyond

There are two different ways to download E-Books: 1. Save Pages as a PDF or 2. download to Adobe Digital Editions. We recommend that students use the first method of Saving Pages as a PDF because it does not require extra software, and it allows students to access pages of the E-Book without time restraints.

Download E-Books by Saving Pages as a PDF

The best way to access an E-Book is to save pages as a PDF. This is because many E-Books have time limits and/or simultaneous user restrictions. To access E-Books beyond these limits, you can save desired pages as a PDF.

First Step:

Before completing the steps below, first determine whether you are accessing an E-Book from EBSCO or ProQuest.

Ebsco eBooks will look like this:

ProQuest Ebook Central will look like this:

For EBSCO eBooks, follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Click on the PDF Full Text icon.

2. Click on the “Save pages” feature (located in the top menu bar of the PDF viewer).

3. Some publishers have created a limit on the number of pages that can be saved during one session. Take note of the limit after clicking on "Save Pages."

For ProQuest Ebook Central, follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Click the "Read Online" button.

2. After selecting a desired chapter, click the PDF icon in the top toolbar.

*Note: For ProQuest Ebook Central, up to 40% of an E-book can be printed or downloaded each day.

3. Select Page Range and Citation Style, and then click 'Continue'.

4. Finally, open the PDF file.
