Creating a Personal Account in MyEBSCOhost

In order to set up search alerts in EBSCO databases, you must create a profile.

  1. Click on the Sign In link near the top right hand corner of the page
  2. Click Create a new Account.
  3. Fill out the form and create a username and password.
  4. Click Submit.

Setting Up EBSCO E-mail Journal Alerts

  1. Click the Publications link near the top left hand corner of the page.
    • To locate the publication, enter the title in the Browse Publications field.
    • OR, use the A - Z links to browse through the list of titles.
  2. From the journal's Publication Details Screen, click the Alert/Save/Share link. (If you have not already signed in to My EBSCOhost, you will be prompted to do so.)
  3. The Create an Alert: Screen will appear with options to select E-mail Alert or RSS feed. This screen also provides a persistent link, which will enable bookmarking on over 300 social media sites.
  4. Choose E-mail Alert.
  5. A new Create Alert screen will appear with the journal alert name, date created, and database name automatically filled in.
  6. Enter your E-mail Address. (If you are entering multiple e-mail addresses, place a semicolon between each e-mail address.)
  7. Edit your preferences regarding e-mails.
  8. Click on Advanced Setting at the bottom of the Create Alert screen.
  9. In the Alert Options section, indicate how you would like to be notified. Select either:
    • E-mail all alerts and notices (the default) - you will receive all alerts and all notification messages via e-mail.
    • E-mail only creation notice - you will receive only the notification messages, not the actual links to the articles or table of contents.
    • No e-mail (RSS only).
  10. When you have finished making changes, click Save. You will be returned to the Publication Details Screen. A message is displayed that indicates a journal alert has been set for the publication.

Setting Up EBSCO RSS Journal Alerts

  1. Click the Publications link near the top left hand corner of the page.
    • To locate the publication, enter the title in the Browse Publications field.
    • OR, use the A - Z links to browse through the list of titles.
  2. From the journal's Publication Details Screen, click the Alert/Save/Share link. (If you have not already signed in to My EBSCOhost, you will be prompted to do so.)
  3. The Create an Alert: Screen will appear with options to select E-mail Alert or RSS feed. This screen also provides a persistent link, which will enable bookmarking on over 300 social media sites.
  4. Choose RSS Feed.
  5. A new Create Alert screen will appear with the journal alert name, date created, and database name automatically filled in.
  6. Under the General Settings section of the Create Alert input screen, click on the URL next to the orange RSS button. This will open a new window.
  7. Choose your feed reader in the drop-down menu to the right of "Subscribe to this feed using..." and then click Subscribe Now.
  8. Follow the procedure for logging in and creating an alert in your feed reader.
