Below are a number of websites and databases where you can search for grants and awards relevant to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Department of Education Discretionary Grant Programs This document lists virtually all programs and competitions under which the Department of Education has invited or expects to invite applications for new awards and provides actual or estimated deadline dates for the transmittal of applications under these programs.
Federal Grants Wire Federal Grants Wire is a free resource for federal grants, government grants and loans. Funding opportunities are categorized into the following groupings: by applicant type, by subject area, by agency, and by name.
FIPSE Database The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) database is a publicly searchable database with information about current and past FIPSE competitive grant projects. A part of the Office of Postsecondary Education, U.S. Department of Education, FIPSE supports innovative and effective improvements in postsecondary education under several grant programs.
Foundation Center Helps philanthropic foundations connect with grant seekers. Use this website to identify grantmaking organizations and search requests for proposals.
Grants and Awards: POD Network The Professional and Organizational Development Network provides grants and awards for faculty that "contribute new knowledge or tools to the field of instructional, faculty, and organizational development."
National Endowment for the Humanities – Division of Education Programs “Through its programs devoted to teachers and their students, the division strives to cultivate intellectual curiosity, so that students can deepen their reflections on human experience; increase their understanding of different cultures and societies, past and present; and achieve the knowledge and wisdom necessary for democratic citizenship.”
National Endowment for the Humanities – Office of Digital Humanities Grants See the office’s list of grant opportunities for those that might have educational components.
Office of Postsecondary Education - Programs The OPE Program Guide organizes grant programs by their primary purpose and provides a brief summary of the program and a link to the main program page.

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation STEM Higher Education Grants Provides grants to improve the quality and diversity of higher education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Carla B. Howery Teaching Enhancement Grants Sponsored by the American Sociological Association, the Carla B. Howery Teaching Enhancement Grant program supports teaching projects that advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) within the discipline of sociology.
Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science Education and Research Training Grants through several HHMI initiatives train educators to teach science more effectively and allow undergraduate students from diverse populations to experience authentic research early in their academic careers.
The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) – Postsecondary Education Program The Postsecondary and Adult Education topic supports research on the improvement of education outcomes for students in college and in adult education programs.
Lumina Foundation Provides funding for initiatives designed to “to increase awareness of the benefits of higher education, improve student access to and preparedness for college, improve student success in college and increase productivity across the higher education system.”
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Excellence Award Sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the purpose of the AACN Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Excellence Award is to recognize a faculty member who systematically investigates questions related to student learning and the conditions under which it occurs in order to improve outcomes.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research Grant Sponsored by the American Psychological Association, research projects in any phase of development are eligible for funding (e.g., materials design, data collection, manuscript writing). However, the proposed project must have a high probability of producing a product that will be presented and/or published in a peer-reviewed outlet in a timely manner.
The Spencer Foundation This foundation funds grants focusing on several different aspects of higher education. It expects "proposals not only to describe strong research designs and rigorous analytic methods, but also to give a clear and compelling account of how the research proposed may be significant for educational policy and practice and, by providing a conceptual framework and discussing related research, to show how it will contribute to understanding in ways that go beyond the study at hand."
The Teagle Foundation This foundation is “committed to promoting and strengthening liberal education.” Their programs “generally encourage collaboration among institutions, seeking to generate new knowledge on issues of importance to higher education.”
