Celebrating Simmons Faculty

Charlotte Russell (SSHP) Promotion to the rank of Teaching Professor

About:

Professor Russell has been teaching at Simmons since 2006 in the Biology department. Her passion is in anatomy, and that is the focus of her teaching and scholarship work with current activities being the writing of auxiliary materials for her textbook and looking forward towards writing other books in Human Reproductive Biology and, potentially, Pathophysiology. Professor Russell also has years of service: she has served as President of Faculty Senate, is the current Chair of SSHP Faculty meetings, the faculty lead for the STEM Colloquium, and winner of the 2024 Faculty Service Award.

Selected Text:
101 Case studies in Anatomy and Physiology, Charlotte Russell, Kendall Hunt 2nd edition.

Atlas of Anatomy, Frank H Netter,

I have selected two pieces as one is the aspiration of the other. In January 2022 the second edition of my book was published, and the book is a reflection of my teaching and the path I hope to set my students on in their healthcare careers - it contains 120 clinical case studies with questions that touch on the main concepts associated with the case and the path to diagnosis. In the book I created a large number of diagrams and recently I have created a significant number for the auxiliary materials. Frank Netter is a legend in the Anatomy world, with his Atlas being a seminal work and I aspire to create diagrams and materials that contain so much detail and are in themselves works of art.
