Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
IPCC is the United Nations body for assessing climate change. They do not conduct their own research, but select hundreds of experts from around the world to create assessment reports, intended to be 'neutral.' The reports aim to inform policymakers on observed greenhouse gas emissions, causes, impacts, and predictions based on models. They also release special reports on specific topics (e.g., ocean, land, disasters, etc.).
U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) Reports
Established by the Global Change Research Act of 1990 (Public Law 106-606), the USGCRP’s mission is to ‘understand, assess, predict, and respond to human-induced and natural processes of global change.’ USGCRP publishes national climate assessments in addition to reports on interconnected issues related to climate change, including public health, adaptation strategies, and food security.
EPA Compiled Research Articles and Reports
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Research and Development compiles research material on a variety of climate change topics, including human health, water quality, and energy. This can be a useful tool for browsing a wide variety of topics, although keep in mind that materials will be aligned with EPA values. Users may also search their Science Inventory directly for all reports, articles, presentations, and software.
NOAA Climate Science Strategy Regional Action Plans
Modeled after the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) general Climate Science Strategy, each of the seven regional action plans outlines expected changes, priority actions, and management strategies specific to that region. Recommendations are supplemented by reports and executive summaries.
