Information Literacy 101: Library Search

An introduction to information literacy

Library Search is a great place to get started in the beginning of your research process! You can find it on the main page of our Simmons Library website. Searching with this allows you to search almost all of our databases at once, and get the most results until you're ready to narrow them down.

Advanced Search

Advanced Search is an option that lets you apply more filters to your Library Searches. This allows you to focus your broad search and get more specific results. You can filter for things like:

 - Language

 - Publication date

 - Full text availability

 - Boolean phrases

 - Peer reviewed

 - Specific journals

Saving Your Search

Always grab the Permalink! URL links time out and you will lose the resource or search you were hoping to save. Permalinks are permanent so they allow you to refer back.

You can save your entire search by grabbing the Permalink for the search results.

You can also save specific resources for you to go back to by grabbing that Permalink as well.

Databases Not Included

Simmons Library has access to 134 databases, and Library Search searches 100 of them. You can find a list of the databases not included in Library Search here: Databases Not Included

A lot of these databases are noted on the General Databases page of this LibGuide.
