Library Services for Online and Distance Students

You can borrow print and other physical items even if you are unable to visit campus. We have a home delivery service and will mail items to your home address.

 

 Borrowing books from the Boston campus

To borrow print books, simply request items through our online catalog and select "Mail to my home address" as your delivery option.

Note: we need a current address. If we do not have a current address on file for you, we'll reach out via email to obtain one. You must answer this email to confirm your address or we will be unable to mail the book.

 
Please be aware of return shipping costs!

If your only option is to return items via mail service, please be aware that you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. We recommend you use the United States Postal Service, and ask for "Library Rate" or "Media Mail". This is a reduced cost shipping method for library materials.

SLIS West @ Greenfield Community College Library

Simmons maintains a satellite campus for SLIS West Students at the Greenfield Community College. If you are able to return your library material in person at the Greenfield Community College Library, they will forward the item to the Simmons University Library at no cost.


How to request a print book for Home Delivery

 
1. Access the library catalog and log in to your account: https://libcat.simmons.edu/

Library accounts are auto-generated based on your Simmons email address. There's no need to establish a new account, just login with your standard Simmons email and password.

 
2. Search for and locate an item of interest

When you locate something you want to borrow, click on the title to open up the "detailed record view". You'll find the request button near the bottom of the page.

 

3. Select "Mail to my home address" on the request pop-up screen
