Library Services for Online and Distance Students

Interlibrary Loan is a library service that allows you to borrow material from other libraries. If you want to access books or articles that are not available through the Simmons Library directly, you can request that item using our Interlibrary Loan form. We'll locate a copy at another library and borrow it on your behalf.

How to place an ILL request

1. First, set up an Interlibrary Loan account

To do this, simply head over to our ILL page and log in to our system. It will recognize your Simmons email address and generate an account for you instantly. Follow the link below, and click the "Log in to ILL" button.

2. Next, create a request

Click the "Create Request" button on the right.

3. Choose your material type
  • Articles & Book Chapters
You are requesting a digital copy which will be delivered to your ILL account. When the item is ready you will receive an email notice.
  • Books
You are requesting the physical book which will be delivered to you.

4. Fill out the form and select your Delivery Option

You will want to complete as much of the form as you can to make it easier on library staff to identify precisely what you are looking for.

If you are unable to visit campus, be sure to choose "Home Delivery" as your delivery option. Note that with this option, the item will first be delivered to the Boston campus, and then re-directed to your home address via United States Postal Service. So it will take some time (expect 7 to 10 days) between your initial request and delivery to your home.
