Finding Media: Streaming Audio

Use this guide to help locate media in the library and on the web, including DVDs, CDs, streaming video and streaming audio.

Streaming Audio on the Web

Here you will find resources on websites that aren't affiliated with Simmons College but are rich sources of two types of content: streaming music and educational podcasts.

Podcasts

The podcasts are separated into two categories according to where you find them, either on iTunes U or on an individual institution's website. All of the podcasts are thematically relevant to teaching, learning and professional development.

Music

Music links are provided primarily as an entertainment and discovery resource and include the following types of content:

  • Personally curated streams: Deezer, Last.fm, Pandora, Slacker Radio
  • On-demand: 8tracks, Apple Music, Gaana, Google Play Music, SoundHound, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music, Vevo, Hype Machine
  • Live broadcasts: iHeartRadio, Internet Radio, Live365, Mixcloud, Radioplayer, TuneIn
  • Collections of Creative Commons licensed music: BeatPick, ccMixter, Free Music Archive, Jamendo, Opsound
  • Artist/user submitted content: Bandcamp, Jamendo, Mixlr, PureVolume, Soundcloud
