EBSCO Journal Alerts

Creating a Personal Account in MyEBSCOhost

In order to set up search alerts in EBSCO databases, you must create a profile.

  1. Click on the Sign In link near the top right hand corner of the page
  2. Click Create a new Account
  3. Fill out the form and create a username and password.
  4. Click Submit

Setting Up EBSCO Email Journal Alerts

  1. Click the Publications link.
    • To locate the publication, enter the title in the Browse Publications field
    • OR, use the A - Z links to browse through the list of titles.
  2. From the journal's Publication Details Screen, click the Journal Alert link. (If you have not already signed in to My EBSCOhost, you will be prompted to do so.)
  3. The Save Journal Alert Screen will appear with the journal alert name, date created, and database name are automatically filled in.
  4. In the Run Alert for field, select how long you would like the journal alert should continue to run.
  5. In the Alert Optionssection, indicate how you would like to be notified. Select either:
    • E-mail all alerts and notices (the default) - you will receive all alerts and all notification messages via e-mail.
    • E-mail only creation notice - you will receive only the notification messages, not the actual links to the articles or table of contents.
    • No e-mail (RSS only)
  6. Enter your E-mail Address. (If you are entering multiple e-mail addresses, place a semicolon between each e-mail address.)
  7. Edit your preferences regarding emails.
  8. When you have finished making changes, click Save. You will be returned to the Publication Details Screen. A message is displayed that indicates a journal alert has been set for the publication.

Setting Up EBSCO RSS Journal Alerts

  1. Click the Publications link.
    • To locate the publication, enter the title in the Browse Publications field
    • OR, use the A - Z links to browse through the list of titles.
  2. From the journal's Publication Details Screen, click the Journal Alert link. (If you have not already signed in to My EBSCOhost, you will be prompted to do so.)
  3. The Save Journal Alert Screen will appear with the journal alert name, date created, and database name are automatically filled in.
  4. In the Run Alert for field, select how long you would like the journal alert should continue to run.
  5. In the Alert Optionssection, indicate how you would like to be notified. Select either:
    • E-mail all alerts and notices (the default) - you will receive all alerts and all notification messages via e-mail.
    • E-mail only creation notice - you will receive only the notification messages, not the actual links to the articles or table of contents.
    • No e-mail (RSS only)
  6. Under the General Settings section of the Saved Search Alert input screen, click on the url next to the orange RSS button
  7. Follow the procedure for logging in and creating an alert in your feed reader
