Simmons University Library 101: Reference

A general guide to the services offered by the Simmons University Library.

In-Person Reference

The Circulation Desk in the library has two workers stationed at it. One worker is for circulation services and one is for reference services. Starting at 10am until the library closes, patrons are free to walk up to the reference librarian working the desk and receive help.

Virtual Reference

Chat Reference

During operating hours (10am-Close), Simmons Library operates a virtual chat reference that you can access by selecting the Chat option in the upper right hand corner of the Simmons Library website. The chat is manned by a Reference Librarian who will help you with your questions and concerns.

Email Reference

You can email library@simmons.edu with any questions or concerns you have regarding library services and research help. Email reference is a less immediate option to chat reference. Email reference is also one of the options for one on one research appointments with a Research Librarian.

Research Appointments

Students can schedule one on one research appointments with a Research Librarian using the Meet with a Librarian option on the Simmons Library website. Pick the librarian that has your subject listed, or you can schedule a No Preference appointment which will match you with whichever librarian fits your availability. Research appointments can be in person, virtual, or through email.
